CAS Christmas card

A while ago I made some cards and tried out for the Stamplorations CAS Design Team, sadly I didn't make the team but I had fun coming up with three different cards for my submission.  My first one was a Christmas card using the Stamplorations Artsy Border Maker set.  I created a tree stencil and used the scallop border to create the tree and a different border for the trunk.  The sentiment is a Clearly Besotted stamp.

I am afraid I have fallen behind with my tags, although I do have four more almost completed, a few finishing touches are required before they can go on my star decoration.  It's been a busy, busy week and is obviously not going to get any less so for a while but fingers crossed I can get them completed soon.

Like buses, tags 9, 10 and 11

Just popping on quickly to show you tags 9, 10 and 11.  Tag 9 was made using scraps of paper for the candles and the SU Bird Builder punch for the candle flame.  I even got out some Sheena dies for the first time and added some foliage.

Tag 10 again just using scraps of mountboard and paper to create some presents and grouped together.  I also used SU’s Tiny Tag punch for some labels – sorry about the glare on this one.
For tag 11 scraps of card stamped with SU’s Reason for the Season with matching punch to make up my Poinsettia tag.  Stickles added to two of the tags for some Christmas sparkle.

I will be back tomorrow with tags 12 and 13 but here are 9, 10 and 11 on my star decoration.

Right, off now to stuff my face at another Christmas meal LOL!

Saturday, 12 December 2015

This week certainly seems to have flown by way too quickly for me.  Tags are still being made but I’ve not had time to take photos and post about them this week so over the next few days I will hopefully bring those following along with them up to date.

Day 8 and I used an SU stamp set which had this Nutcracker design and there is also a matching die to cut out his moustache.  A quick and simple tag which was just coloured in using Promarkers and Copics.  I did add some clear Wink of Stella to the moustache but it doesn’t really show up in this photo.

Here he is on the star decoration which is filling up nicely.

One of the reasons I haven’t been blogging this week is that I have been spending time working on our Christmas jigsaw.  We managed to get it completed this evening.  Lesley you guessed the correct puzzle we were working on so if you could e-mail me with your address I will pop a prize in the post to you.

We have also spent time doing some Christmas shopping.  On Wednesday I met up with my friend Jenny and we managed to get some of the gifts we wanted and had lots of laughter too.  Yesterday we met up with our daughter and started the day off with a nice cooked breakfast in a cafe in town to set us up for the day of serious shopping.  I was also able to fit in a nail appointment and so my nails are now a nice glittery yellow colour ready for the works Christmas meal on Sunday.  Lots of presents bought, just a few more to get now.

While we were shopping we came across a man creating sand art – when we first saw him he had only just started the adult dog but when we passed him again later in the day the dog had produced two puppies.  I’ve always thought this is a very clever art form.

Yesterday evening it was the model railway Christmas meal – a very pleasant evening, good company and very tasty food of which we ate far too much.  We managed to work some of it off by walking a fair way to catch our bus home.

Today our youngest son and the gorgeous Harlee-Jay came round to visit us – he’s growing so quickly and has such a charming smile.

Lots planned for tomorrow including lunch at my brother-in-laws to celebrate Christmas early with him and his partner as they are going to be flying out to Australia for Christmas and then in the evening my works Christmas meal.  I hope you have all been having a fun weekend too.

Frosty the snowman

I made a snowman round and fat,
And on his head I put a hat,
He sat out in the sun all day,
And slowly melted all away,
But I can tell just where he sat,
Because he didn't take his hat.

My punch art snowman tag for day seven.  By the time I got home yesterday evening it was too late to post this tag.  Lots of different punches used to make this snowman – still not sure if he is complete, DH says he needs some hands but I’m worried they might be a little fragile.

Snowflakes

It’s been a lovely chilled and relaxing day today.  This morning we had our usual trips to see our parents.  In the afternoon we snuggled down to watch Elf the Movie – my choice this year, neither of us had seen it before and we loved it.  After the movie we managed to get some of our Christmas puzzle done – still lots and lots to do yet.  If you read my post here you will see that I am having a little giveaway for anyone who guess which puzzle we chose to do this year.

This evening we watched Strictly the results show – was surprised to see Georgia in the bottom too, but was a little annoyed that Craig blamed the public for putting Helen into the dance off.  At the end of Saturday evening the judges had placed them second from bottom on the judges leader board so from that result they are just as much to blame.  Rant over.

Today's tag needed to be quick and simple as I didn’t make a start on it until after watching Strictly.  I stamped three of the snowflakes from SU’s Flurry of Wishes onto blue cardstock in Island Indigo ink and then again on white cardstock and then added some iridescent embossing powder for some sparkle.  To the centre of the snowflake I added a snowflake brad and a tiny number 6.

Once again a picture of how they are all looking on my advent star.  My thinking cap is already trying to come up with another tag for tomorrows post.  I hope you are enjoying seeing my little creations each day as much as I am making them.

Catch up post

Back in October when we were on holiday you may remember I went to a class at Scrapbook Magic where I started to decorate a frame to turn into a Christmas countdown.  I did actually get it completed in time to and put up on the wall but forgot to take a photo of it.  Most of the snowflakes, poinsettias, vines, etc where cut out while I was at Scrapbook Magic, but I added the cinnamon sticks, cream berries and stars which were in the potpourri I had changed out a while ago so some recycling done there.  I also collected some pine cones that came from a tree that is by the Dr’s surgery on the green opposite our house.

Below is a photo of all the tags that had been made up until Friday – DH had taken the photo but had forgotten to e-mail it to me so there was no need for explaining myself after all!

I had to go into work yesterday as part of a shift swap but the time went by very quickly.  DH met me after work and we did some food shopping and then called round to see friends on the way home.  By the time we had eaten and watched Strictly I only had a small amount of time to put together yesterday’s tag.  I was too tired to blog yesterday so this is why this is a catch up blog post.

I’ve used a retired SU stamp and die set to create the tag.  The tag shape again I die cut from some scrap board from packaging and covered in a neutral coloured cardstock and then inked it with TH Distress Inks.  The houses were also coloured using Distress Inks.  I was amazed at how quickly it came together and how little brain power it took up, which was just as well as there wasn’t much brain power left by the end of the day LOL!

And here they are altogether on my star which is starting to fill up nicely now – I wonder if I will be able to get all 24 tags on there?
WP_20151206_003
Following on from making my Christmas tree tag on Friday I used the same principal and managed to make ten cards with more torn scraps from the same papers I’d used for the tag.  That has boosted my cards for this year and might now just have enough for the ones that need to be posted soon.  Fingers crossed I will be able to get a few more quick cards made this week which will be hand delivered.

I will be back later with tag 6.

Oh Christmas Tree

Tag No 4 started off very differently than the finished result – not least of all the actual shape of the tag which went from a star to a tree.  I cut out a Christmas tree shape from some recycled board that came with a package.  The tiny piece of brown cardstock for the tree trunk I ran through a woodgrain embossing folder and then inked to give some texture, not sure how well this shows up in the photo but looks better for it.  It was then time to delve into my scraps box for various papers in shades of green which were torn, inked and then glued to the tree shape.  The red star and sentiment came with a Christmas kit I purchased from Shimelle Laine – this was a fantastic kit, so many lovely products in there to work with my Christmas projects this year and no doubt many years to come.  The number 4 came from Creative Memories sticker sheet that have been in my stash way too long, but they are now in my craft room so should get used up on lots of LO’s over the coming months.  Finally some Stickles glitter was added to give the appearance of tinsel on the tree.

I appear to have broken my camera so at the moment I am relying on DH to take photos on his mobile and e-mail them to me (until we can figure out why my phone won’t send them via e-mail).  Unfortunately while he took a photo of the tag on the star he didn’t take one of all the tags so you can see how the star is being filled up.  Hopefully I will explain myself clearer tomorrow LOL.

Today’s photo prompt is CARDS.  I am having a bit of a play on words with this prompt as on the CARDS today for me was to decide which of the two Christmas jigsaws, which my mum has loaned me, I would make a start on for this month.  Last year I decided to challenge myself to complete a Christmas themed jigsaw puzzle during the month of December.  Last year I managed to complete the puzzle I think within a week.  My biggest dilemma was deciding which one to do this year and which to leave until next December.

WP_20151204_003
Which one would you have chosen?  I have made a start on one of them this evening and have almost managed to complete the outside of the puzzle – I obviously need to go through the box again to find the missing edge pieces – I thought I’d picked them all out but obviously didn’t.
WP_20151204_004
When I have finished the chosen jigsaw I will post it up on my blog – but for a little bit of fun anyone who guesses right I will enter you into a prize giveaway which I will post out in the new year.  Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting today.

Third day of tagging

Today I used a stamp set and matching dies to create this wreath tag.  I cut multiple layers of the wreath from scrap card to get the thickness for the tag.  After layering up the die cuts I stamped the wreath image which is a three step stamp set from SU and added this as the top layer.  I’ve added some gems for the berries for some sparkle.  The bow was run through an embossing folder to give some texture and I went over the top of it with my clear Wink of Stella pen.  The sentiment was another die from the same set which I cut out in gold and red to give a shadow effect.

Here is the tag in situ on my star decoration.  While I’ve been at work today I have been thinking of what shape to do next for tomorrows tag.
WP_20151203_004
Todays photo prompt is Dear Santa.  I’ve cheated a little with this one and found a Dear Santa letter, printed it out and photographed it but I intend to use this on a scrapbook layout this year and also add it to my December journal.

Red tag

A quick and simple tag today as it has been a very busy day.  The photo prompt for today is RED and so to make my life a little simpler I have made a red tag in the shape of a Christmas ornament.  I’ve used a border stamp to add some gold embossing powder and wrapped some gold thread around it too.  The sentiment is from a stickers sheet as is the number.

Here it is in place on my Christmas stars.
WP_20151202_004
This morning it was Logan and Savannah’s nativity which I, along with their two great grandmothers and DD went along to watch.  Logan was a star and Savannah was a cow and the title of the nativity was Bethlehem’s Got Talent.  It was really sweet to watch and they all seemed to enjoy themselves.

After the nativity it was time to take mum food shopping before heading back home and making up some thank you treats for my group of crafting friends who place orders with me for SU goodies.  I made them these but decorated them with snowflakes and embossed them with iridescent embossing powder.  I will take a photo of them later and try to remember to post them on my blog tomorrow.  Inside they have some chocolate treats.

Outside The supermarket they had a couple of donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary and they were wearing their red Santa coats – they looked so cute.  I did manage to get a couple of photos of them so they would have also done for the red photo prompt.  I will be using those photos for my December journal

We are now looking after Harlee-Jay for a couple of hours while mummy is seeing to the horses and daddy is at work.

Advent

How did it get so late so soon?”
― Dr. Seuss

Anna of Mrs Brimble’s blog has put another photo prompt up for December.  I really enjoyed taking part in the October prompts so thought I’d give it another go as I can also include it with my December daily journal which I attempt every year – some more successfully than others – well actually if I complete it this year it would be the first time of succeeding!  To me though it’s all about trying to have fun through the month of December which can at times be stressful.

Now although I have made lots of advent treats for others this year I don’t ever make any or buy any for myself.  So I thought I would create a tag for each day and instead of counting down I would work my way up to advent.

Many years ago I bought two wire stars to be put up in the house but we could never decide where we wanted them so they lay on the top of our wardrobes for quite a while.  This year though I decided it would be nice to put them up in what has now become my craft room (thank you youngest son for moving out LOL).   While I was at work yesterday DH put them up for me – not exactly where I had intended or in the positions I had in mind but I am grateful that they are now on the walls rather than gathering dust on the top of the wardrobes.

I thought I would hang my tags up on the stars and use them as my advent calendar for this year.  The lighting is terrible today so I haven’t been able to get very good photographs to show you.  As per usual I am trying to use up scraps of paper and embellishments that have been in my stash for quite some time.
