Homeward bound and high tea

Today our holiday came to an end and by 10 this morning we were on the road back home.  Today’s photo prompt is Dashboard so I took a photo of our car dashboard while DH was driving us home.

We were back home just before midday and when we got home I was greeted with a lovely smile from Harley-Jay who had been staying in our house for the week with his mum and dad.  Vicky was in the process of making a Japanese souffle cheesecake when we got home which we tried later and it was very nice.

Late afternoon I met up with five of the ‘girls’ from work for high tea at the Royal William Yard as a belated celebration for Debbie’s 50th birthday.  We enjoyed smoked salmon and cream cheese finger sandwiches to start.

This was followed by the most amazing scones, clotted cream and jam and also a trio of other cakes including individual Victoria sponge cakes, carrot cake and lemon drizzle cake, accompanied by copious amounts of tea and lots of chat and laughter.  Absolutely delicious but we couldn’t eat everything so we all had a little take out bag of the cakes we couldn’t eat.

No time for stitching today but I will post some stitching progress pictures from our week away – hopefully tomorrow.

Such lovely pics you captured of your final couple of days, I hope Max's paw is better. Those jelly fish look a bit nasty. A great selfie of you, looks like you caught the sun whilst away.
What a lovely treat to come home to, a smiling grandson and cream tea out ... sounds heavenly.
