Tea by the sea

Well this photo has taken a few years to finally get put on a LO.  I think Connor was only about 13 months old in this picture – he’s now 6 1/2 years old!  All I can remember is that we all went to Paignton on a bank holiday in May.  It was one of those rare days when we were together will all of our children and while it was a rather overcast day at the beach it was just nice having their company for a few hours.  We’d taken a walk along the sea front and stopped for a warming cup of tea – Connor decided he wanted to share Granddad’s when it had cooled down.  I also remember us having to take shelter from a rain shower in the amusement arcades on Paignton Pier.
I managed to get this LO together at the Exeter crop yesterday using the monthly kit.  This month in the kit was some Gesso.  I’d put some masking tape onto the cardstock in certain areas and then painted over with the gesso and when this had dried added some blue ink mixed with the gesso.  Although it doesn’t show very well in this photo I also used SU’s The Open Sea stamp set.  The banners were created using the SU Banner punch and I also used a Martha Stewart circle punch.  The embellishments include a pinwheel which was created using a Sizzlets pinwheel die from SU which is currently in their clearance rack, some bakers twine and a few pearls.
It was a fun day at the crop although not overly productive as I only managed to get this LO and an 8 x 8 page completed for Logan and Savannahs album which is now up to date.  As that is now up to date I guess I need to start taking some more photos of them for next months crop.

Almost but not quite

Today I went to a drawstring bag workshop at the Dragonfly Tea Room with my friend Jacqueline who kindly drove us down there – thank you again.  I didn’t quite finish the bag but all I have left to do is add the drawstring.   The fabric was from the clearance rack of Stampin’ Up! – there were three pieces in a pack each measuring 27” x 18” for just £2.19 or £2.49 each pack – quite a bargain.  I have used four packs but I have enough fabric I think to make another bag out of it as I didn’t use the third print.  So with careful measuring and cutting there should be sufficient.  They don’t have this pack available anymore but there is the beautiful spice cake pack still available from my SU website store if anyone is interested in a fabric bargain.
I’m hoping to complete the drawstring later once I have watched the Strictly Come Dancing results show.  Later in the week I think I’ll try and cut out the remaining fabric ready to make another one at some point.

Stocking SAL update

I haven’t worked on the Christmas stocking for the past three Fridays for various reasons so it was nice to finally get some more stitches put into this design.  I am hopeful that just a few more Fridays and it the stitching part will at least be finished.  I’ve put the picture of the finished design by the side of my stitching so you can see just how little is left to do.  Fingers crossed I can get it completed before the end of October and then the finishing completed in November once I have decided on the backing material.  As it’s my intention to fill the stocking each year I also need to give it a lining so that the inside stitching is protected.  It will be put away for at least another year as I have to get a stocking stitched for Elisha before I can give this to Connor.

Burlap Canvas

Yesterday I had a trip down to Scrapbook Magic for a workshop with my friend Moya.  The lovely Margaret who owns this crafting haven had prepared an altered burlap canvas for us to make.  The papers are from Graphic 45’s Olde Curiosity Shoppe range and once we had inked the canvas and cut out the two large postage die pieces of paper it was left to us how we wanted to decorate the rest of the canvas.  Margaret’s canvas had been created in portrait but I decided to do mine landscape.  Lots of fussy cutting, pretty embellishments and the addition of glossy accents and it was complete – I really like it.  I liked it so much I have bought two smaller canvasses and am going to use the leftovers from the papers (and a couple of extras that dropped into my shopping basket) and decorate them to go either side of this one.  My very own tryptich.
Next months workshop that I am going to will be to decorate a sleigh – already looking forward to that one very much.

Winter Frost Zig Zag Tag Book

A few weeks ago I went to a workshop and learnt how to make a lovely zig zag tag book with a non SU paper range.  While I was at my scrapbooking retreat I decided to make another tag book but this time using the lovely SU Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper, Not Quite Navy and Whisper White cardstock.

I have also used the lovely Festive Flurry stamp set, Festive Flurry Framelits Dies, a variety of SU ink pads in shades of blue and several punches including the Petite Pennants Builder punch to create the Christmas tree.  Scraps of paper to make a trio of presents, Mosaic Madness stamp set and co-ordinating punch, stamps from the Hostess Warmth & Wonder stamp set, Decorative Label punch, Modern Label punch and word window punch.  I even used a couple of words from the Naughty & Nice Rotary stamp and the dotty embossing folder on some of the tags.  Great fun to make and a wonderful way to keep those Christmas memories displayed each year.

If you would like to buy any of the Stampin' Up! projects which I used to make this tag book then hop along to my Stampin' Up! shop to purchase.  The link to my SU shop is in my side bar.

Stampin' Up!

Many of you that know me know that I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for many years now - it's been mainly as a hobbyist.  I have now decided to set up a dedicated SU website so that I can keep my personal blog separate from my SU.  The link if you are interested is on the side bar and from there you can view my SU blog, place orders and find out about any events that are coming up.  Thanks for looking.
