Sew little time....

...despite having not had to work the past two days I'm still late posting this card. This week I have tried to go for a more vintage style card - think there is still some improvement required, but I will persevere! With Mother's Day fast approaching here in the UK I thought I would make this for our mums.
QKD FB 2803
I've used some stamps from the Vintage Sewing rubber stamp set by Ink Stained Ronnie available to buy for Queen Kat Designs and also one of the Lace Border stamps from the Eclectic Reasons. The stamps have been second stamped onto some SU Confetti White cardstock using black Versafine ink and matted onto Baja Breeze and Rose Red. The DS papers are from a new set of SU papers that will be available to order from April - a very pretty set along with some of the new seam binding in Rose Red. I printed the sentiment out using word on the computer and tried to add some faux stitching around the edges. The buttons came from my stash. All I need to do now is duplicate the card so that I have another one for Ian's mum!

This weekend was spent visiting our friends Karen and Phillip - while we were there Karen and I managed to do some crafting together and she convinced me that I should enter this card into the Lili of the Valley blog challenge. It was a really lovely sketch to work with and I had fun putting the card together using some new papers that will be available from SU next month - so pretty. I also had great fun making the lovely quilled flowers to go on the card and showed Karen how to make them so you could be seeing more of them on our cards in the future! A really big thank you to Karen for letting me stamp out more LOTV images for me to work on and enter into future challenges - however I think a few stamps might find their way into my house at some stage too.

Thank you Karen and Phillip for a really lovely weekend xxx

Gypsy recent release from QKD

gypsy 2
For this card I have used Gypsy again by the artist Diana Vick- recently released by QKD and available to buy now. I've coloured the image in using Promarkers taking the colour scheme from the lovely SU Greenhouse Gala range of papers. The quote came from one of my searches for poems and quotes - it's amazing just how much information is available out there to use with your cardmaking and scrapbooking. The flowers were from my stash.

Twisted Sketch #51

The Twisted sketch this week is now up on their blog with the added twist of buttons, anyhow, anyway

I have opted to go with lovely spring colours, which remind me of daffodils. I've used SU's Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait and Pumpkin Pie ink pads and SU's Flight of the Butterfly stamp set to create my card this week, along with another SU border set. The buttons are from Papermania and the ribbon is SU's Daffodil Delight taffeta ribbon - so easy to tie.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat

- apparently this was the rhyme the Mad Hatter recited in Chapter 7 of Alice in Wonderland so I've added this along with the Mad Hatter stamp by Christina Lynn Myers which is available at Queen Kat Designs. I've made an easel card this time using backing papers which are from Paper Artsy and the greeting was from one of my Whimsical Ink monthly stamp sets. Last week saw the arrival of several new designers and lots more stamps at QKD - a real variety of images and styles - why not check them out as I'm sure there is something to suit everyones taste.

Sketches 4 Cards App

Anam Stubbington, founder of the Twisted Sketches blog and all around amazing papercrafter released her Sketches4Cards app for iPhones, iPads & iPod Touch and I was lucky enough to be asked to supply a card based on one of the sketches which can be found on the application. Below is the card I submitted - I loved playing with the sketch and was pretty happy with the end result too - more from the Ooh La La range from MME.

Logans 1st Christmas LO

I've managed to complete another 8 x 8 LO to go in Logan's album - Ian says he looks like one of those Russian dolls the way he is held and dressed up in his Santa suit. I'm being good and using up some of the retired Christmas papers from SU along with co-ordinating embellishments and ribbon. The alphabet tickets are from my friend Helen's stash cast offs (I love getting her cast offs!) and I've added some stickles to the number to show it up a little more.

New Release Queen Kat Designs by Artist Diana Vicks

Today sees the release of some new stamps by the artist Diana Vicks available from Queen Kat Designs. There is a mini blog hop highlighting the new stamps and more info available on the Queen Kat blog. Hopefully you have arrived here from Shannons blog, if you haven't then you can always start from the beginning at Queen Kat Designs blog and check out the new stamps and what each person on the design team have come up with to showcase them. gypsy 1 qkd

I had the pleasure of working with Gypsy and this is one of two designs I created using this image - I'll share the other one another day. I had great fun colouring this one in (although I did notice after I'd taken the photo I'd coloured one little bit in the wrong colour - can you pick out the mistake?) The papers are 7 Gypsies and I've used a Nellies frame and some lovely lace from Kaiser, added a little bling and printed out the sentiment. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.
Your next stop on the blog hop is Vicki - have fun!

Triple Tiara Tuesday

This is my first time of being part of the Triple Tiara Tuesday challenge and I'm very excited. I got to play with another of the new releases from QKD. Check out the link to see the latest offers that are available.
This week's challenge is: Use the sketch above. I've used the Mad Hatter by Christine Myers. I've used some papers from my stash pile along with some colour core cardstock and an embossing folder. I've stamped out the Mad Hatter and added him to the left of the card and added some teapot buttons. Then using the SU word window punch instead of ribbon I've added my greeting on the card. This stamp challenged me, but I had great fun working out of my comfort zone - it really got my brain cells working. Hope you like it and you'll join in with the challenge - further details can be found below card.

Queen Kat Designs Lollipop Fairy - Pretty in Pink

A different look to the Lollipop Fairy stamp from Queen Kat Designs. Lasts week was bright and vibrant - this week I've gone for more pastel tones. I've combined colouring with paper piecing for this card. The papers are retired SU designer papers and she has been coloured in using Pro-markers. I've also added Stickles to make the wings sparkle.

Twisted Card Sketch #49

This is my interpretation of the Twisted Card sketch for this week - the added twist is Spring, anway, anyhow. I have decided to use the seasonal meaning of the word Spring and have used some retired papers from SU along with stamps from my Unity collection. I love the fresh colours and with the recent sunshine we have been having here in Plymouth over the past couple of days it really does feel as if Spring is finally on it's way.

2nd LO of the year!

I discovered a great sketch site towards the end of last year called Nuts about Sketches (link is in my side bar I think!) - the sketch I have used for this LO was also part of a DT call, but it also suited the photos I had in mind to use. Once again I've used MME Love me do range - I will be so sad when I have used all this set! The sentiment is a Dark Room Door stamp which my friend Jacqueline kindly let me stamp out while we were at the Liskeard crop last Saturday. The main photo was taken at Colette and Tim's engagement party and the scan photo was the second scan they had when they discovered that they were going to be having a baby boy. Hopefully the sketch site will help me with lots more LO's throughout the year.

You're invited to the Queen Kat Designs March releases

The first Wednesday of every month sees the new stamp releases from Queen Kat Designs - details below. I was lucky enough to get to play with two of them and over the coming weeks will show you what I've been doing with them

The first card I'm going to show you is called Lollipop Fairy and is by the artist Samantha Nowak. I wanted it to be a bright and cheery card so opted to use the lovely MME papers from the Love Me Do range - I have so enjoyed working with both the stamp and the papers. I also wanted the sentiments to tie in with the name of the fairy hence sweet and thoughtful, which is how I think the fairy looks. These and all the other new releases will be available to buy from the Queen Kat Designs shop. Why not check out their Facebook page too.

Yay - Just Tracy's 1st Challenge goes live today!

The first challenge for Just Tracy's challenge blog is up today. With it being the 1st challenge the theme is New Beginnings which can be anything from a new baby, new home, new job, etc. Remember it doesn't have to be a card it can also be a LO, ATC, Tag or anything else you can think of so long as it has the theme of New Beginnings. The challenge is being sponsored this month by Just Tracy's shop so if you enter you have the chance of winning a lovely prize from the owners Tracy and Karen - do check out the blog for more details.

I have opted to go with New Baby, especially as we celebrated the birth of our new grandson Logan in December and thought this was a great way to hopefully kick start my scrapbooking mojo back into action.
Don't forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team have come up with this month - there is a variety of themes and projects which will hopefully inspire you to create something of your own. Have fun!
