I tried to get it to crackle more by putting it through my paper crimper but that didn't make much difference, but I liked the effect and went with it, adding some Tim Holtz black soot distress ink to to edges. I love this traditional santa image which came with a QVC kit by Kanban, which I have inked the edges using peeled paint distress ink this time.
Anyway after lots of shuffling I finally managed to get six of them completed.

8th January was the first Plymouth crop of the year and I've journalled about friendship and sharing crafting time together. Had a great stamp with the recipe for friendship. Finally the 9th January I was working all day so had only a little time and energy left for crafting that day.
Although I've fallen a little behind with making the Art Journal I keep a note of what I want to enter for each day - I've got two days off from work tomorrow and Monday so I am hoping to bring it back up to date and share some more pages with you next week. I've bought myself the A4 binder - just need to decorate it!

I have stamped the Fancy pants flower image first in black Versafine ink and then in SU's Regal Rose ink twice and decoupaged the flower before adding one of SU's jumbo eyelets. I've used Tim Holtz Black Soot ink to distress the edges of the paper and diecut border.

I've arranged the inchies into the shape of what I hope resembles a Christmas Tree - loved both the challenges and the fact that I have another six cards ready for this years big event!

5th January hightlights the fact I was shown how to make some of the cakes that we sell in the cafe where I now work and the 6th January is really simple just about the World Wide Web with the questions Time Saver or Time Waster? Sometimes I can spend ages searching the web, either blog hopping, trivia or shopping so am I wasting my time or is it a valuable resource?

Elisha is back to her usual mischievous self while poor mum and dad are still recovering from 36 hours of worry and sleep deprivation!!!

I'm trying to keep the cards simple so that I can achieve my target of making six of each design for each challenge.
Unfortunately they couldn't push the hernia back in and it is too big apparently for them to operate on at Derriford hospital so Elisha has now been transferred to Bristol. Hopefully they will be operating today - so all we can do now is anxiously await news. Between the family we offered to look after Connor to save them having to take him with them, but they have decided to all go up.

I've decided to use A4 card and divided it into three segments so that each entry isn't going to take me ages to fill each day - that way I might even be able to keep it going all through the year - yeah right I hear those of you that know me say! I'm going to pop the pages into pockets and put it into an A4 ring binder and decorate the binder at some stage.

Anyway, along with everything else that I am planning on doing this year I thought I might follow Amy's idea in her post here. I'm hoping to be a bit more adventurous and do six of one design - should be achievable if I keep them fairly simple. I already have an idea for the first challenge on the Jingle Belles sight and fingers crossed I might be able to get them done before I go to work tomorrow.
First day back at work in the New Year and it was a long day - started at 8 and finished at 18.30 (actaully clocked in at 7.50 and clocked out at 18.45) so apart from a bit of knitting this evening and watching the darts final on TV I didn't do much else when I got home. Really pleased as I have already finished the back of the new jumper I am knitting for Logan and have already made a good start on the front.
Right off to get an early night as I'm now beginning to feel tired and I want to try and get up a bit earlier than I have been doing of late - the trouble is since we bought a new kingsize duvet which is oh so cosy I haven't been wanting to get out of my warm bed - especially with the weather being so cold outside. But I have to stop lazing about if I am to stand any chance of keeping up with all that I hope to achieve this year!

Resolutions - do you make them? Do you keep them? I have to confess I always make them but have difficulty in keeping them, but not one to give up I keep trying every year. This year I'm going to set myself three crafting resolutions.
1. Make more time to craft and create a crafting routine around my new job/working hours - not just come home and veg in front of the TV!
2. Use lots of the stash I already have and try hard not to buy new stash just for the sake of it!!
3. Complete some of the many UFO's from previous years - I did manage to complete the Snow Leopard last year so I know it can be done!!!
A great start to the New Year as I have got the whole weekend off. New Years Eve was spent looking after Connor, Elisha and Marley while David and Vicky went out to celebrate. Connor and Elisha were no problem at all as they were already tucked up in bed and we didn't hear a murmur from them. Marley their dog on the other hand took a bit of settling down. Once he realised that we didn't want to be jumped all over, but were happy to play with his toy or have a cuddle on the sofa with him then it made for a very pleasant evening indeed. I don't believe you can beat the company of a dog.
Marley we have to admit, (although we both love dogs) we have our reservations about with David and Vicky having two young children. He's a cross between a Staffy and a Rottweiller - he's obviously very boisterous right now as he is a puppy, but I think providing they train him he will become a lovely dog. But you hear so many horror stories with those breeds ( I also know that they can be great big softies too) and Elisha shows no fear as far as dogs are concerned and that worries me more than anything. Connor has always been more cautious. Our dear little dog Max is very unsure of Elisha and does his utmost to avoid being near her - not that she has been cruel to him, but I think it's the uncertainty of not knowing what she might do that freaks him out. Those of you that know Max know what a little dear he is, but even I wouldn't trust him alone with Elisha. So I pray that all will be well with Marley.
This morning I have spent making a start (yet again) on sorting our house out! Today I decided it was the turn for our bedroom. I've sorted out the case full of wool which was under the bed - some of the unfinished projects I decided to scrap as I knew I would never wear them even if I completed them ( I started them mega years ago), some of the wool I have put by to have a go at crochet with and the rest of the projects are part of my resolutions to try and complete! I've sorted out my magazines which seem to pile up so quickly - keep saying I won't buy anymore other than the ones I have got subscriptions to, but there's always at least one project on the front cover that tempts me. Anyway I managed to get rid of two boxes from under the bed so now I've got space for any contraband should I need it, which I won't as I'm going to use what I've already got!!!!!!! (Keep telling myself that and it might just work)
I've now, hopefully got an hour or so spare to get a card completed for a challenge before heading down to the in-laws where we have been invited for our evening meal - roast beef and all the trimmings no doubt - will be delicious whatever it is as mother in law is a fantastic cook.
Enjoy your New Years day, whatever you may be doing and I look forward to seeing some of you very soon.
